MP State Duma and Deputy Chairman of the Defense Committee from United Russia party Yuri Shvytkin died at the age of 61. This was announced by the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, whose words were published on the official Duma website.
“Our colleague Yuri Nikolaevich Shvytkin passed away suddenly. I express my deep condolences to the family and friends of Yuri Nikolaevich,” the message says.
The Chairman of the State Duma noted that Shvytkin’s death is an irreparable loss, and emphasized that his colleagues will remember him as a “modest, sympathetic and reliable comrade.”
“He was respected by his colleagues, he was trusted by voters – residents Krasnoyarsk Territorywhose interests Yuri Nikolaevich defended over many years of his deputy work. Patriot of his Motherland – Russia. He defended the country as a volunteer in the Northern Military District zone,” emphasized the Chairman of the State Duma.
Yuri Shvytkin was born on May 24, 1965 in Krasnoyarsk, graduated from the Novosibirsk Higher Military-Political Combined Arms School named after the 60th anniversary of the Great October Revolution.
From 1986 to 1992, Shvytkin served in the 76th Guards (Pskov) Airborne Division, performing special missions in Baku, Fergana, Osh, Vilnius, Kirovabad, Yerevan and Leninakan. Then he served in the internal affairs bodies of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, and also took part in hostilities in the Chechen Republic in 1995–1996.
He was a deputy of the State Duma of the seventh and eighth convocations. For his services, he was awarded three Orders of Courage, a number of medals, including “For Military Merit”, “For Distinction in Military Service” 1st degree, “For Military Valor”, “For Merit in the Fight against Organized Crime and Terrorism”, “For Service in Special Forces”.
He left behind a wife, daughter and son, who continued the family tradition and became a paratrooper officer.
