FC Bihor Stuns Csikszereda with 2-1 Victory in Romanian Cup

In a surprising turn of events in the Romanian Cup, FC Bihor defeated FK Csikszereda 2-1, marking a significant victory for the away team. This match was part of the second stage of the group phase in the Betano Romanian Cup.

The game began with FC Bihor taking an early lead in the 23rd minute, courtesy of Dragoș Tescan, who scored following a remarkable play initiated by Florian Haită. Despite a slight mishap that allowed Csikszereda to equalize quickly with a header from Alex Szabo just eight minutes later, Bihor regained control in the second half.

In a crucial moment at the 67th minute, Haită, who had been instrumental in the first goal, received a red card, leaving Bihor to play with ten men. Nonetheless, they capitalized on the situation and scored the winning goal in the 74th minute through the 18-year-old Alex Orban, who struck from the edge of the penalty area.

This victory positions FC Bihor at the top of Group C with four points after two matches, increasing their chances of advancing to the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, Csikszereda, still seeking improvement, remains with three points.

In other matches, the results from the latest round of the Romanian Cup included a 1-1 draw between Minerul Lupeni and Poli Timișoara, as well as a 3-0 victory for FC Argeș over Corona Brașov. Dinamo also secured an impressive 5-2 win against Chindia, solidifying their standing as they aim for a quarter-final spot.
