President Nicușor Dan said on Wednesday, in a press conference in Salzburg, that the special pensions reform should be done by keeping the current privileges for the magistrates who have already met the retirement conditions, so that the system does not remain without magistrates.

Asked about how the special pensions reform should be made so that the system did not run out of magistrates, the head of state said he had already spoken with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, who said he would send him the project to have magistrates.

“I had a discussion with the prime minister this week on the second package. He told me that the second pack has, as you know, several components. He told me that on the magistrate's pensions side he will send me the project next week to have discussions with all the actors, including the representative organizations of the magistrates.”

The dialogue with the actors involved will take place “to stop being in the situation in which we were – to give some laws to be declared unconstitutional, so predictable,” says the head of state.

Nicușor Dan adds that he maintains his opinion about the fact that the privileges benefit the magistrates who have met the retirement conditions should be kept, so that the magistrates do not leave the system before changing the law.

“The message I sent in the press conference, I also reconfirmed in the discussion with the Prime Minister: to remain the transient norm in the current law who says that the magistrates who have already fulfilled the retirement conditions can access the retirement conditions on the old law. Dan.
