The driver of an STB trolleybus on line 90 who found, on Saturday evening, the 11-year-old child reported missing in the Capital, told how he recognized the minor. The testimony was published by Bucharest City Hall on Facebook. The minor was taken by the police and is out of any danger.
Nicolae Barbu, a 47-year-old STB driver, says that he noticed the boy in the trolleybus line 90, after he got on in the Cișmigiu Garden area, right in front of the Capital City Hall.
“Having several passengers in the car, I thought he was accompanied by someone. But when we got close to the Sower, I realized that he was, in fact, alone,” the man reported.
The boy told him that he wanted to reach Pantelimon commune and that his mother was waiting for him at the National Arena.
“He seemed scared, shy. I spoke to him calmly, I told him that he had taken the wrong direction and to stay with me on the way back, that I was passing right there. I put him on the front seat, so that I could see him better and keep an eye on him. I was thinking that if his mother wasn't waiting for him, I would call the police,” continued Nicolae Barbu.
According to the same post, on the way back, in the Rosetti Square area, the driver received the RO-Alert message announcing the disappearance of an 11-year-old child and including his details.
“It was 9:00 p.m. The police arrived in a few minutes, at the second station, Iancului School. I pulled to the right, asked the rest of the passengers to get off and let the law enforcement officers intervene. The child was even more scared, he refused to get off, but in the end, he was calmed down and taken care of,” says the 47-year-old driver.
“He trusted me the most. When the police came he panicked a bit. But it's good when everything ends well,” the driver said.
Around 21:20, the Capital Police announced that the minor was found.
