According to a statement published by the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the device was affected by the means of electronic warfare of Russia and later arrived near the coasts of Romania.

The Ukrainian authorities claim that they informed the Romanian side immediately after the incident.

The announcement comes after Friday's incident in Constanța Port, where a maritime drone was observed in Berth 78, near the headquarters of the Romanian Lifesaving Agency at Sea (ARSVOM). The area was evacuated and secured by the authorities, and the device later self-detonated, causing no casualties.

Previously, the Ministry of National Defense specified that the drone did not belong to the Romanian Army and that it is of the type used in the war in Ukraine.

The maritime drone that self-detonated in Constanța Port on Friday was part of a group of five drones, said the prefect of Constanța County, Adrian-Teodor Picoiu. “The information from the Ukrainian side is that there were five drones. One exploded in the port of Constanța, one on the Ukrainian side and three drones are currently being searched to prevent further problems“, declared the prefect.
