In the Taimyr-Dolgano Nenets region, local residents provided assistance to a family who suffered from a polar bear attack. This was reported to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

The duty station received a message that a polar bear had injured people 40 km from the village. To scare away the animal, local residents, as well as the local police officer, went to the fishing point on an all-terrain vehicle and snowmobiles. Upon arrival at the scene, it was established that three citizens, 42, 10 and 19 years old, were injured as a result of the animal attack.

“Seeing the approaching equipment, the animal disappeared. Local residents notified neighboring fishing spots, as well as oncoming vehicles heading to the Noskovskaya tundra, about the presence of a polar bear in the area of the Brekhov Islands,” said the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The district police officer and local residents who were at the point took the injured family to the village to provide medical care.

The issue of transporting one of the victims to the Dudinka district hospital for further treatment is currently being decided.
