“The success of the night operation – the Ukrainian Navy struck Russian ships in the Kerch Strait. The ships Sobol and Grachonok – key units protecting the Crimean Bridge – were hit; losses were recorded on the enemy side. Systematic pressure on the Russian presence in the Black Sea is underway,” we read in a statement from the Ukrainian army attached to the recording showing fragments of the entire operation.
From what we know, Maruga drones, the best maritime kamikaze drone in the Ukrainian army's equipment, were used for the attack. Kiev also regularly increases its combat capabilities and not so long ago we could see it in the version of… a drone aircraft carrier.
The Crimean Bridge – another goal for Ukraine?
The liquidation of the ships protecting the Crimean Bridge may suggest that Kiev is preparing to attack the bridge itself, but at this point it seems unlikely. Ukraine would, of course, be happy to destroy or significantly damage this structure that connects occupied Crimea with Russian territory, but at the moment it has rather different priorities.

Therefore, it seems that this attack is just an “ordinary” operation, the aim of which was to weaken the Russian presence in the Black Sea and a clear signal sent to the Kremlin not to try to increase its activity in this area of the front by the Black Sea Fleet.
