One of the brightest symbols of the cultural heritage and modern development of the Jewish Autonomous Region is the regional Philharmonic – a unique facility, the construction of which left a noticeable mark on the history of the region and became a source of pride for all its residents. The State Archives of the Jewish Autonomous Region revealed ten interesting facts about its construction.

1. The construction of the Philharmonic was planned for the 50th anniversary of the region.

2. The Philharmonic building was built according to the design of the Moscow Institute “Giprotheatr” in less than two years, according to other sources in 36 months.

3. The site for the construction of the Philharmonic was allocated in 1977.

4. The project for the Philharmonic building was approved in 1978, construction began in December, according to other sources in June 1981

5. The cladding of the auditorium is made of ash and small-sized tiles from the Budukan deposit.

6. Cladding work was carried out by builders from Moscow, Leningrad, Khabarovsk.

7. During the construction of the Philharmonic, marble, granite, and limestone were used for the exterior and interior decoration for the first time in the region.

8. The floors of the Philharmonic are made of marble and carpet.

9. The concert hall, according to the original design, was supposed to accommodate 500 spectators, but was built with 700 seats.

10. During the construction of the Philharmonic, construction, installation, landscaping and special work worth 6 million rubles was completed.
