Nikita Gusynik
The Orthodox Church on this day celebrates the memory of St. Nikita Chalcedons, confessor. The people of the saint were called the guard of geese, and simply – a goose. According to popular belief, Nikita protects mainly goslings, and not adult birds, protects them from eagles, hawks and other predators.
The second name of this day is half a day. Thus, special perfumes, outwardly similar to ordinary earthly women. Seckal, beautiful, on hot days they flew in circles over the fields and attracted working peasants.
Pregnant women on this day were specially sent to the field – so that the child gained the same fortress that the young Kolos possesses. There was a belief that to give birth to a bread field – to mild childbirth, to a healthy child.
