I eat pancakes all week and don’t gain a single gram: how to survive Maslenitsa without harming your figure

Maslenitsa is coming soon, which means losing weight by spring in the near future will not work. To survive a whole week of eating pancakes without gaining new pounds, you should use the recommendations of experts. EAOMedia news agency will share useful information.

“There are several ways to reduce calorie content. For example, you can bake pancakes with whey, reduce the number of yolks in the recipe, opt for whole grain flour rather than standard flour,” Antonina Starodubova, chief freelance nutritionist of the capital’s department of health, previously reported to RIA Novosti (18+).

How else to reduce the calorie content of pancakes:

  • For frying, use refined vegetable oils with high heating temperatures: mustard, coconut or avocado oil. Cook pancakes in a non-stick frying pan.
  • Don't give up on yeast. Yeast pancakes are not harmful – even if the yeast is “fast”. There is no need to replace them with soda for the sake of benefit.
  • Reduce the amount of sugar in the dough. Replace it with stevia or erythritol. And avoid sweet toppings.

Which pancake fillings are healthier:

Opt for protein. The best fillings: cottage cheese, fish, lean meat or sour cream. These pancakes are more satisfying and healthier than sweet ones. And if you want something sweet, use fruit puree, berries or dried fruits instead of jam and condensed milk.

Additional lifehack: a couple of hours before the feast, drink kefir with a spoonful of bran. This trick will satisfy your hunger and help you avoid eating too much, and the fiber will slow down the absorption of sugar.
