The newspaper “Birobidzhan Star” (12+) 1941 October 24 writes about the help of collective farmers of the Red Army and under the heading “Do not import from afar what can be produced locally” talks about the use of internal resources when repairing various equipment. For example, various mechanical parts are successfully restored at Leninskaya MTS:
“We also learned how to make new parts, we carry out boring and grinding of cylinders of STZ and ChTZ tractors, we produce blanks for bearings, we grind various rollers, we make all kinds of bolts, nuts, and washers. A few days ago we restored the autogenous apparatus. We had it lying around for about three years, it was considered unusable, many parts were missing for it. At the Lenin driving school, among the scrap, we found another, also unusable, device. Of the two, we collected one. Now our autogen is working properly.”
The following was a message from the locomotives of the In station that, thanks to the use of local resources, they completely eliminated the downtime of cars for repairs due to a shortage of parts:
“For more than two months now, our team has refused to check out many materials and parts from the spare parts store. We have enough parts procured from salvage materials for an entire quarter.”
