A female driver from Alba county, caught driving on the highway, in winter conditions, with a car equipped with summer tires, was fined over 1,800 lei for ignoring the regulations that stipulate that vehicles must be equipped with season-specific tires in winter.

The 30-year-old woman, from Alba Iulia, was stopped by the Police on Thursday, January 8, on the A1 Râmnicu Vâlcea-Deva highway, at kilometer 17.
“As a result of the control carried out, the police found that the car was not equipped according to the weather conditions, having summer tires installed”, inform, on Friday, the officials of the Alba Police, writes News.
Because she ignored the regulations, the driver received a contravention fine, in the amount of 1,822.5 lei.
In addition, the police ordered the complementary measure of withholding the registration certificate for the car she was driving, issuing a substitute proof of the registration certificate, without the right to drive.
The police remind car owners that non-compliance with the provisions of art. 102, para. 1, point 28 of GEO no. 195/2002 regarding the provision of winter tires constitutes a contravention and is sanctioned with a fine between 1,822.5 and 4,050 lei and the withdrawal of the registration certificate.
