In the Abansky district of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the court found a local farmer-entrepreneur, the head of a peasant farm, guilty of illegal logging on a particularly large scale.
According to the prosecutor's office, the crime was committed between October 2021 and September 2024:
“The attacker organized large-scale illegal cutting of trees – pine, birch, aspen, spruce and fir fell under the ax – everything that could bring profit. At the same time, the entrepreneur came up with a cunning scheme: he bought wood purchase and sale agreements from local residents, which they concluded with the forestry for personal purposes – construction, heating or farming. These documents created the appearance of legality while illegal logging was going on in the forest.”
The damage to the forest fund and the regional Ministry of Forestry exceeded 5.5 million rubles. During the investigation, the defendant admitted guilt and repaid it.
According to Part 3 of Art. 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the man was sentenced to suspended imprisonment for 3.5 years and his skidding tractor and two KamAZ trucks belonging to him were confiscated to the state.
