“The new counter-drone unit of the Federal Police will show how we respond to new hybrid threats: quickly, accurately and with advanced technology. Against threats from drones, we are guided by a clear principle: detect, defeat, intercept!” said Dobrindt.
Future employees will reportedly be trained to assess various drone situations and respond quickly. The unit will use the experience and expertise of the Federal Police, including special departments for operational support, investigations and mine clearance.
“In the coming days, a Joint Center for Countering Drones will be created, which will unite the state police, the Federal Police and the Bundeswehr. There, incidents with drones will be jointly assessed, and a platform will be created for the development of counter-drone technologies and the establishment of technical standards,” the press service said.
An important component of the new counter-drone system will be the creation of a research center that will focus on the latest drone technologies. It will conduct research, development and testing of solutions to effectively counter drones.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, special attention will be paid to supporting startups so that their innovative technologies can be quickly implemented in the work of law enforcement agencies and at critical infrastructure facilities.
