In the third quarter of this year, over 3.6 thousand people were scammed. times they tried to extort loans for a total amount of PLN 78.3 million – according to the infoDOK report of the Polish Bank Association. In total until September 30 this year. there were over 13.8 thousand such tests for the amount of PLN 349 million.


“The report shows that on average there was an attempt to extort a loan every 36 minutes, which translates into over 39 such cases a day,” the Polish Bank Association reported. The average value of a single fraud attempt is PLN 16.6 thousand. PLN, although the largest amounted to PLN 1.5 million.
The region most at risk for such tests in the third quarter was the province. Masovian Voivodeshipwhere 500 such cases were recorded for PLN 14.7 million. Silesia is second with 440 trials worth PLN 12.8 million, and Małopolska is third – 263 trials worth PLN 9.8 million. An increase in the value of thwarted attempts was recorded in the province. Lower Silesia (PLN 8.1 million) and Warmia-Masuria (PLN 2.8 million).
ZBP data also shows that in the third quarter 29.3 thousand were reserved identity documentsand over the last 12 months this number is nearly 115.5 thousand. At the same time, 2.8 thousand were recorded. cases of using another person's document and 7.7 thousand cases of document forgery.
The Polish Bank Association – together with the Police and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Administration – recommends that in the event of loss of identity documents, always reserve them at the bank as soon as possible – also when the documents are lost by a person who does not and has never used banking services. At the same time, it reminds about blocking bank cards, of which there are 45.5 million in Poland.
