Three soldiers were saved by their comrades in a dramatic photo capture operation
“Thriller on the front of Zapoijie – the special forces within the Main Directorate of Information (Hur) saved their brothers from the captivity of the occupants even on the battlefield”is shown in the text of a video published on Telegram.
According to Hur, three fighters from the “Artan X” unit – a subdivision of the special information group “Artan” – started on a sabotage and recognition mission that targeted the positions of Russia's 247 Air Assault Regiment.
Such missions, meant to prevent Russia's attempts to establish advanced positions, involve close collaboration between drone operators and terrestrial teams and usually aims not only to eliminate threats, but also capture Russian soldiers, reports Euromaidan Press.
This mission focused on a supposed Russian observation point near the village of Stepove, where Ukrainian surveillance with drones had detected enemy movements. The operators identified three Russian paratroopers from the 247 Air Assault Regiment that were sheltering among the ruins of an old construction. The initial drone attacks forced Russian troops to move, creating confusion and causing damage.
Russian troops use chemical weapons to take Ukrainian prisoners
As the enemy regrouped, three agents from the special unit Artan – having the indicatives Keța, Anubis and Kliucik – intervened to complete the mission and secure the prisoners. After which the situation took an unexpected turn. During the fighting of the body, the Russian paratroopers released an unknown chemical agent, incapacitating all three Ukrainian soldiers and taking prisoners. The use of such a substance is a clear violation of international conventions and has transformed the mission into a crisis situation.
The Russians began to retreat to the open ground, pulling after them the prisoners to a settlement under Russian control. But Ukrainian drone operators were in positions. The open land offered them visibility, so the withdrawal route was taken in the viewfinder.
When the Russian group reached the first shelter, Ukrainian FPV drones attacked precisely. A Russian paratrooper was instantly neutralized. In the middle of the created chaos, soldier Keța managed to free himself and crawl to a nearby building, hiding as he struggled with burning sensations after the chemical attack.
Later, he reported that he felt his chest burn because of Russian gas, but he felt extremely relieved when Ukrainian FPV drones arrived.
“I felt a hellish burn in the chest because of the gas they poisoned us. When they flew our FPVs-it was an incredible feeling. I am so grateful to my brothers that they did not leave us at the will.” he said, according to Hur.
Save by drones
The drone operators continued their attack, and a second Russian was eliminated shortly. The third tried to shelter under an abandoned truck, but was hunted and killed in a last precision blow.
With the secure area, a Ukrainian recognition drone approached the two Ukrainians on the spot-Anubis and Kliucik-transmitting withdrawal instructions from the commander of their unit. Under the guidance of the drone team, the two soldiers returned through the hostile territory, avoiding being detected.
Keța, who had been sheltered alone, waited until after nightfall before starting back, reaching the Ukrainian lines only a few hours later.
“These types of epic stories are likely to increase the morale. What artist drone operators did and other security and defense forces was a higher level skill – pure expertise. We will fight for ours to the end,” said the commander “Artan X”, with the favorite indicative.
Hur added that Savedi soldiers returned with captured weapons and valuable information. Currently, they receive treatment for chemical burns.
