President Nicușor Dan answered, in an interview for Antena 1, the questions asked by observatornews.ro readers, including one related to the relationship he has with PSD. The head of state admitted that “there can be no great love” between him and the social democrats, but he mentioned two things he appreciates about the PSD.
Asked if he still believes that the PSD is a “necessary evil”, President Nicușor Dan replied:
“I don't want to answer yes or no to this question. I had, especially at the local level, many disagreements with the PSD. And, obviously… There can't be great love with this party all at once, but I want to say two things. One, that I appreciate the hard way, to enter the government when they could very well stay in the Opposition, to wait for it to grow. And two: I see an attempt at internal reform of this party. Of course, we'll see how things will evolve in a year, two from now.”
The president was also asked if he still believed in the chance of success in the presidential elections between the first round and the second round, given that his opponent had a 20% advantage after the first round.

Nicușor Dan said that there were people who told him that he had no chance, but those close to him sought to “energize him”. “Even in the 2020 elections, they hid polls from me so I wouldn't see them. It's logical, that's how they work in the electoral campaign,” said the president.
On the other hand, the current head of state said that he did not take into account the failure between the two rounds of the presidential elections. “You're not allowed, you're not allowed. I mean, the moment you see … Well, you as a person matter less, but when you see people around you shooting like that, you're not allowed to … stop,” said Dan.
He also reported his first candidacy for the Capital City Hall in 2012 when, as an independent, he obtained 9%, although two days before the elections he was rated at only 3%. “And people asked why I am still running to confuse the world,” said Nicușor Dan.
For this reason, the president claims to be “relaxed” about the level of trust shown by opinion polls. he evoked the substantial decrease in this chapter after winning the first mandate as mayor in Bucharest.
“I mean, it seemed like I didn't know what I was doing, I wasn't communicating, “it's too big a hat for him, he's a good NGO-ist, but the catastrophic mayor”. I knew what I was doing, I couldn't explain it, especially since I also had this debt, so somehow I think that to some extent the current scenario is being repeated. I mean, I know what I'm doing, I work 12 hours a day, I work on weekends, I try to decipher some mechanisms, some ways of acting. That takes time. I am not very visible during this period, but I am, and especially having that experience, I am sure that we will do some things”, explained the president.
