Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann clearly stated that customers who buy cars from his stable want to hear the roar of combustion engines. Therefore, the company does not plan to change its production plans for electric versions of supercars in the next decade.

Lamborghini is a luxury car brand owned by the Volkswagen Group. It currently offers three main models:
- temerario and revuelto are plug-in hybrids combining petrol engines that can run in fully electric mode, but only for short distances;
- The urus is a luxury SUV, available as a plug-in hybrid and a conventional petrol car. It's certainly not as eye-catching as the above-mentioned models.
For the sake of order, we should also mention the limited edition of the sports superman – Fenomendo, which reaches a maximum speed of over 345 km/h. Only 30 units leave the factory each year. Each of them costs at least EUR 3 million (and this is before taxes).
Next month, Lamborghini will decide whether the next model – long planned and expected by the brand's owners – will be fully electric or, again, only a plug-in hybrid. In an interview with the BBC, the company's CEO clearly stated that “enthusiasm for electric cars is waning“.
We see a huge opportunity to stay with combustion engines and battery systems much longer than expected, he adds.
And although it realizes that the company behaves responsibly and does not ignore the constant pressure to reduce emissions, “our actions, as a low-volume producer, they have a limited impact on the environment“The data speaks for itself: Lamborghini sells up to 10,000 cars worldwide each year. 80 million cars leave other factories. “We really don't make much of a difference.” – emphasizes the CEO.
According to Stephan Winkelmann, the use of combustion engines over the next 10 years will be crucial to the company's success. In his opinion customers miss the noise and “fury of a conventional engine”. – This is what they want, this is what they want – he adds.
Lamborghini's plans to create an all-electric next Urus have been shelved for now. It was initially supposed to be available in 2029. However, it is now known that it will not come off the production line before 2035.
Lamborghini therefore took a path completely opposite to its archrival Ferrari. The fully electric Elettrica model is to be presented next year. It will be sold alongside conventional and hybrid versions.
