Ticket prices increases at PKP Intercity are getting closer. “The situation is uncomfortable”
PKP Intercity plans to raise ticket prices, according to the statements of the deputy minister of infrastructure Piotr Malepszak. “PKP Intercity ticket prices remain at the level of 2015. The deputy minister emphasized at the same time that any changes would not be drastic. Applications about the need for price correction also come from local governments. The deputy minister calculated that long -distance connections are cheaper than regional by up to 30 percent.
Also Janusz Malinowski, president of PKP Intercity, indicates the disproportion between the prices offered by the carrier and regional tariffs, where PKP Intercity on sections up to 100 km is significantly cheaper, offering – as he assessed – better quality of services. This market imbalance becomes a reason for price revision.

PKP Intercity recorded in the first quarter of the year an increase in the number of travelers by 10 percent. compared to last year. With the December new timetable, the number of connections increased by 51 compared to the previous year.
