How to get the 50 lei voucher from the state to pay the invoice to electricity / eligible consumers

Starting July 1, vulnerable consumers in Romania can benefit from a 50 lei per month for the payment of electricity invoices. Such subsidies will receive about 2.1 million domestic consumers, ie a quarter of the total.
The vouchers are emitted in the form of electronic vouchers, which can only be used for the payment of electricity invoices. The program concerns people and families with low incomes, who are considered at risk of poverty.
According to the Ministry of Labor, over 2.1 million households throughout the country are eligible for this support, and the total budget impact is estimated at 1 billion lei for July 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026.
Who will benefit from vouchers
Will receive aid from the state budget:
- single people with income under 1,940 lei/month
- families with average incomes below 1,784 lei/month/person.
In order to benefit from electricity vouchers, you must cumulatively meet the following eligibility criteria:
For single people
- The monthly income should be below 1,940 lei.
- Domicile or residence in Romania.
- Be the holder of the contract for the supply of electricity or to live at where the contract is registered.
For families
- At least one family member to be the holder of the electricity supply contract.
- The average monthly income per family member should be below 1,784 lei.
- All family members have the same home or residence.
“It is important to note that the amount of 50 lei a month represents partial support for the payment of invoices, meant to reduce the financial burden, not to completely cover the costs with electricity. The beneficiaries will continue to efficiently manage the energy consumption and pay their remaining part of the invoice”, shows an article posted on the site about-energie.ro consumers.
The energy ticket cannot be transferred, sold or used for an address other than the one for which it was granted.
STS is about to launch the app
The beneficiaries can register in the EPIDS application, which will develop STS by the end of August.
Here are the steps to follow to benefit from the energy ticket, according to the PPC Energy site:
- Request energy ticket
Complete the request in the EPIDS app. The requests for granting support are registered from the date of operationalization of the application and by March 31, 2026.
- The request is verified
In order to receive the energy ticket, which is granted for a single place of consumption per family, it is necessary to validate the pod, which is a unique code, allocated to each place of consumption. Find the pod on each electricity bill.
- You get the energy ticket
You receive the energy ticket, in electronic format, at the e-mail address provided in the application, or printed, to the place of consumption for which you made the request.
You pay the bill through the postal mandate service. You do not have to present the energy ticket to the supplier, but only the invoice with the related bridge.
On the invoice you can find the bar code already implemented by your energy supplier.
The electronic energy ticket is granted for the period July 1, 2025 – March 31, 2026. The amounts unused until March 31, 2026 can be used and after this date (within 12 months from the last load with the value of the support), for the payment of the invoices related to the period of support.
If you cannot use the app you can sign up to the town hall or post
In order to benefit from support from July 2025, the applicants must register in the application within 30 days from the date the application becomes functional. After the expiration of this term, the support will be granted from the month of submission of the request in the EPIDS application, if the conditions for granting are met.
Liberalization of the energy market: How much will the prices at today's electricity increase, after eliminating the ceiling
If you do not have access to the Internet or you prefer the traditional method, you can apply directly to the town hall where you have your domicile or residence. The officials of the City Hall will provide assistance for the correct completion of the forms, and they have three days to submit the request through the EPIDS application.
The application can also be submitted to the post offices, where the Romanian Post offers assistance for completion and reference. The applications are registered in the electronic system within three days, a term applicable and in the case of online submission or at the town hall. This option is especially useful for people in rural areas or for the elderly without digital experience.
Regardless of the method used, the request will be evaluated according to the same criteria.
What do vulnerable consumers do to reduce their energy bills
After the application is submitted, it will be evaluated by checking the documents and the eligibility conditions.
If the request is approved, you will receive the electronic vouchers on the e-mail address indicated in the online application or, in the physical version, through the Romanian Post-an official partner in the distribution process. The vouchers have the value of 50 lei each and can be used only for the payment of electricity invoices.
On the tickets will be printed more essential information for use, such as the validity period, the name and address of the place of consumption for which they were issued, information on the use and contact details for the request for additional information or the transmission of notifications.
Invoices will contain an additional barcode
Energy suppliers will issue new models of invoices that will include an additional bar code. It can be used to pay with the voucher in the network of post offices.
The bar code will be printed on the last page of the invoice of all domestic consumers, but will be active only for vulnerable persons who meet the eligibility criteria and are on the official lists transmitted by the authorities.
PPC announces that bills on July will be late / what is the reason
The support is granted for a single place of consumption, whether or not the applicant is the holder of the contract for the supply of electricity. However, it is necessary that the identification data of the family members declared not be associated with another place of consumption.
From July 1, the electricity market has been liberalized, after, for almost four years, the invoices paid by the consumers were capped.
