The head of the diplomacy from Chisinau, Mihai Popșoi, reacted in the case of war threats launched by Kremlin following the condemnation of Evghenia Guțul. He stated that they are a mixture in the country's internal affairs, stressing that the times when Moscow ordered Chisinau to do.

“Moldova is a sovereign state and we firmly reject the mix in the internal affairs of our country. The times when Moscow dictated us what to do have passed for a long time. Moldova does what is good for its citizens, following in a clear way the national interest in consolidating peace, well-being within the great European family ”, said the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) in Chisinau.

The threat of the Kremlin

The reaction was offered in the context in which the deputy of the Russian State Duma, Konstantin Zătulin, said that the conviction of the Gagauzian Bascan is an act of repression and that the situation can be changed by submitting the Russian army to the border of Ukraine with the Republic of Moldova.

“This sentence is revolting in itself. Seven years in prison for the official leader of Gagauze autonomy (…) is a repression. Gagauziei Bașcana, Evghenia Guțul, sentenced to seven years in prison and handcuffed in the courtroom, sent a public reaction through her lawyers after being incarcerated. She claims that she is innocent and is considered a victim of power.

“This decision has nothing to do with justice. This is a political massacre, planned and executed according to the instructions above. Today I am behind bars, and tomorrow can be anyone who dares to criticize the authorities. This is not a sentence for me – it is a sentence for the entire democratic system of Moldova. This is an attempt to intimidate the Gagauzia, which have the courage to vote as the ruling party wants ”, He noted this on his Facebook page.

The Evghenia Guțul Bașcana accuses the Power Formation, the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), as well as the President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, of using “The repression as a tool for combating dissident. The PAS officials said they did not comment on these accusations, and those of the Presidential Administration have not yet come up with a reaction.
