The Hunedoara stadium will be demolished by the end of the year, according to Florin Maxim, the coach of League 2 leader Corvinul.
The construction of the new arena in the city would take another two years, according to the original timelines. Thus, Corvinul will play over 3 years at the new stadium in Hunedoara.

The construction of the arena will cost approximately 64 million euros, and the stadium will have 10,900 seats. Until the completion of the work, Corvinul will play in Petroșani, at the Jiului stadium.
In a dialogue with GSP, Florin Maxim announced that his team would play in Petroșani for 3 years and would play in the new stadium in 2029.
Florin Maxim, Corvinul coach: “We will play for 3 years at Petroșani”
“The supporters understood that it was the most viable solution to play in Petroșani. From the point of view of the County Council and Hunedoara City Hall, it was the most convenient to play and keep the team in the county, at the Jiul stadium.
Even if our supporters had some kind of animosity towards those of Jiu, they understood the situation. The good of the club is important, not what we want in the short term. In the short term it means about 3 years.
The stadium will be demolished by the end of the year, then it will be 22-24 months until it is ready, that's how long the execution takes. There are 3 years in which we will play at Jiul.
They will install night lighting, the de-icing system, there will be another lawn, the changing rooms will be redone, they will put some new seats in the premises, it will be a slightly beautified stadium that can support first league matches. From my point of view, it's the best, we keep the team in the county”, said Florin Maxim, for GSP.

The 25 percent co-financing refers only to the C+M part of the project (construction – assembly). I estimate that it will be around 10 million euros, but it could decrease. Only after the technical project is ready will we know exactly the amount with which the City Hall will have to contribute to the construction of the new stadium in Hunedoara.
