Warsaw criminal group broken by the police. Extortion on false collisions


The Central Police Investigation Bureau (CBŚP) worked out a criminal group, which specialized in staging road collisions in order to extort compensation from insurance companies. The losses suffered by insurance were estimated at over PLN 6 million. 15 people were detained in the course of activities, including group leaders.
According to CBŚP, Gang operated mainly in Warsaw and its surroundings, and its members had strictly defined roles. Some dealt with the preparation of vehicles and the selection of places where alleged collisions were to be held, others reported damage to insurers, and subsequent participated in fallen accidents.

As a result of a police action, 15 people were detained, including group leaders. Suspects were charged with, among others participation in an organized criminal group and fraud that led to an unfavorable disposal of property. Seven of them were temporarily arrested.
The police estimate that the gang could extort over PLN 6 million from insurance companies as part of undue compensation. CBŚP does not exclude further detention in connection with the investigation.
