Former Russian president and prime minister Dmitri Medvedev has nuanced his statements on Monday and said that Russia “has no intention of providing Iran nuclear weapons”, after US President Donald Trump did not use the word “nuclear”, writes the Spanish agency EFE.
“As for President Trump's concerns: I condemn the US attack on Iran-he has not achieved his goals. However, Russia does not intend to provide Iran nuclear weapons because, unlike Israel, we are members of the Nuclear Unrollifting Treaty,” Medvedev explained, in a message posted on his account.
The former president, currently vice-president of the Russian Security Council, thus tempered his remarks on Sunday, when he stated on his Telegram channel that “there are countries that are ready to deliver their own nuclear weapons to Iran.”
Now, Medvedev has claimed that he knows “very well” the implications that Iran's nuclear weapons could have, a step that “other countries” could take.
“That's what I said,” Medvedev added.
After Medvedev's Sunday statements, Trump wrote on his social network on Monday, Social Truth, that the former Russian president should not use the word that starts with N, from Nuclear.

“Did I hear the former Russian president Medvedev using the word with N (nuclear!), Saying that he and other countries will provide Iran nuclear Iran? He really said that or is it just my imagination? If he said, and if confirmed, please tell me immediately.
The White House leader also emphasized the role of American submarines with nuclear propulsion in Sunday's attack, saying that they are “20 years older” than the rest of the submarine fleets.
In his response to Trump, Medvedev said he should not argue about who owns most nuclear weapons, “especially since the new strategic weapon treatment, which we have signed with an American president, remains in force for now.”
“The question is: What follows?”, The former Russian president concluded.
