Calin Georgescu announces that he is withdrawing from politics: “This stage of the Sovereign movement has ended”
Former presidential candidate Călin Georgescu announced on Monday, May 26, that he withdraws from political life.

“The world is tired of conflicts, wars, haste, violence and excess of politics. In Romania, the exaggerated political struggle has led to depoliticization. When the attention of the people is focused on the political struggle, irrelevant to the well -being of society, it means that the people of the professions essential for the welfare of the country are left on the country.
Today, politics seems to have filled the whole space. The future is not something happens to us, but something that is built through us, through the choices we make in our soul, every soul chooses at every moment, every moment is a choice between fear, hatred, division, pride or courage, communion, truth, dignity“, Georgescu said.
Next, the former candidate thanks his supporters and tells them that he chooses to withdraw from the political life, being of the opinion that “This stage of the sovereign movement ended.”
“The moment we are when we are asking us to react with anger, to offend the others. This moment asks us to wake up conscious and responsible.
I thank all those who supported me. I understand what many of you have gone through, who have been harassed, harassed and marginalized. I thank those who were against me, because this is the value of democracy.
First of all, the elections for the position of President of Romania ended. With this I decided to end my active involvement in the political process, considering that this stage of the sovereign movement ended, from my point of view. I want to point out that this choice is a personal one and does not involve any judgment on those who continue to support this cause. I choose to be a passive observer of the social situation ”Georgescu announces.
Next, he stresses that he remains outside any political party and does not seek to hold any public position.
“I choose to remain outside any political party, I am not affiliated with any parliamentary or non-articular political party. I choose to maintain a neutral and equidistant position without political membership.”, Said Călin Georgescu.
