Donald Trump claims he talked to XI Jinping. Beijing strongly denies

– As far as I know, both leaders have not recently conducted a telephone conversation – said the spokesman of the Ministry of Guo Jiakun during a press briefing. He added that “China and the United States do not consult or negotiations regarding duties.” He also repeated that the authorities in Beijing are ready to negotiate, but they must take place on the principles of mutual respect and equality.

In an interview published on Friday for Time magazine, Trump said that the US has talked with China about a customs contract, and XI Jinping called him in this matter. He did not provide the date or details of the conversation.
A trade conflict escaded between the two countries, as a result of the USA imposing “mutual duties” on the import of products from China, currently 145 percent, to which China responded to duties in the amount of 125 percent.
