

According to Sytnik, the damage of the ecology was estimated as of the first quarter of 2025. These data partially reflect the volume of environmental losses, because their full analysis requires more research and further monitoring of the situation.
We are talking about pollution of land by millions of tons of construction debris, fragments of concrete, glass, asbestos, oil products, heavy metals and explosive objects, as well as fires that destroyed thousands of hectares of forests.
“The defense forces of Ukraine daily protect our state, people, infrastructure and, in particular, the natural environment that suffers significant destruction. The environmental consequences of the war are no less threatening than humanitarian or economic ones – they are already changing landscapes, polluting the soils, water environment, atmospheric air and will have a long -term impact on the health of the population and ecosystem sustainability,” – noted Sytnik.
