President who threw alcohol. “I am in better shape today than at the age of 20

White himself, the founder of the Australian Stella Insurance and the British Freedom Services Group in an interview with Business Insider, admitted that the insurance industry – as she said – “has an affair with alcohol”, and at industry events he is served in huge quantities. An entrepreneur who has been running his own companies for over two decades claims that life after quitting alcohol is “incomparably” better.

When she was younger, she participated in such events, but in time she began to avoid them to avoid drinking pressure.

I knew that alcohol would be present at such events and I was unable to function the next day if I was drinking – he explains.

However, it was different with weekends. – When I left, it never ended with two glasses of wine and returned home. I always asked: “Where is the party?” – he recalls.

She usually drank “much more” than she should, and Mondays became a torment. She felt fatigue, dementia, lack of strength.

In October 2022 she told herself “enough”.

Thus, she joined the growing group of people who choose life in sobriety. Gallup's data shows that in the US in 2001–2003 alcohol has ever drank 72 percent. adults aged 18–34. In the period 2021–2023 this percentage dropped to 62 percent.

Without a glass, no dramas

White did not have a dramatic breakthrough or the moment of “reaching DNA” that would push her to the decision about sobriety. – Why do you need to fall to the bottom to make a decision that is strengthening and makes you feel much better? – he asks.

She had several motivation. First of all: family history. Her mother abused alcohol for years, which increased the risk that she could also have a problem. Studies confirm that people from families affected by addiction are more susceptible to similar problems – whether because of genes, the environment or behavioral patterns.

When her father heard a verdict in the form of a terminal diagnosis, she knew how much mourning could have an impact on her. She saw her mother fought alcoholism after the death of a loved one.

I didn't want to have something in my life that would allow me to turn off emotionally – says. – I have two children. I want to be the best version of myself for them, so I decided it was the right time to put a dot – she added.

The second reason was the upcoming menopause. White wanted to do everything to maintain as much energy and vitality as possible when the hormones are starting to go crazy.

– There is also more and more talk about the effects of alcohol on women and the development of cancer – he notes. The report of the American chief doctor from the beginning of this year shows that in 2019 alcohol consumption was related to 16.4 percent. with approx. 270 thousand cases of breast cancer in women.

Sober means calmer

“My resistance to stress is incomparably greater than when I was drinking,” he emphasizes. – On days with a hangover, everything seemed overwhelming – added.

At work, he feels more productive, has more enthusiasm and is doing better.

He approaches industry events with greater selectivity. – They must be interesting and pleasant in themselves. If you need alcohol to bear them, I'm not going – he says.

Her weekends have changed too. Instead of sleeping night outings, he has time to take care of himself, hiking, massages and ice baths.

I am in the best form of life today and I am approaching fifty – says. – Recently, I beat a life in the squat: 120 kg. When I was 26, it wouldn't be possible She admitted.

It is the most difficult to meet with people who are still drinking. “Sometimes I feel that a distance is created between us,” he admits.

The biggest challenge for me was to find relationships in which you can meet, have fun and talk without alcohol – says. “But today I feel better every day than I have ever felt drinking.” Without a doubt – everything is better – he assures.
