Ivan Vakarchuk was born on March 6, 1947 in the Moldavian SSR. During 1990-2007 and 2010-2013, he was the rector of the University of Lviv. Doctor of Physics and Mathematics (1980), Honored Professor of Lviv University (2012), Hero of Ukraine (2007).
