An ordinary day of work, in which he stopped making a seemingly trivial gesture, changed his life, after being surprised by a surveillance camera on a property where a postman made a delivery.

Gurpret Singh, originally from India, is seen in pictures how the clothes are dry, outside, on the wire and puts them to shelter because it had started to rain just when a parcel was delivered to the Logan suburb, south of Brisbane, Australia, according to CNN.

The owner of the house, Verrity Wandel, was so amazed by the gesture that she posted the video on social media this week, with the following comment: “It is a case for a million. I thought I would find the wet laundry when I get home, but no.”

The postman was acclaimed as a hero in his native country because he made this caring gesture, which went viral on the Internet.

As they became more and more distributed on social networks, Singh and Wandel appeared at a television program in Australia, where Wandel told viewers the events of the day.

Asked why he did this, Singh, who seemed honestly amazed at the attention, said he asked “whether I can do it or not” and then he did it anyway. It lasted “a minute,” he said.

As a member of the Sikh community in Brisbane, Singh is a known figure in the local temple and is known for its charity, according to SIKH faith, a community member for CNN said.

Wandel has denied the suggestions of a radio presenter that everything would be part of a marketing strategy developed on behalf of the state company Australia Post, which in recent years has faced losses, against the background of competition from courier companies.

While Wandel's initial posting attracted thousands of Laudative comments to Singh, a series of offensive statements caused her to post a video that returned to the subject.

“We should be a better world,” she said in the video. “If you have the opportunity to make a totally altruistic gesture, do it, don't think. Greet someone. Smile. It matters.”
