More active interaction with local breeders will make agricultural enterprises independent of external seed producers.

This was stated by the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Mikhail Kotyukov at a meeting of the Presidium of the Government of the region, where they discussed the readiness of the region for spring field work.

“By the beginning of the sowing season, enterprises must be provided with seeds in full. And they should be predominantly domestic. There is a federal program for the development of agriculture, within the framework of which the president set the task of developing domestic seed production. We need to be more actively involved in it so that our enterprises are customers of high-quality domestic seeds,” noted Mikhail Kotyukov.

Today, farms in the Krasnoyarsk Territory are fully supplied with seeds of grain and leguminous crops. More than 84% of rapeseed seeds have been harvested. Vegetable seeds will be supplied to enterprises in April-May.

By the end of April, farmers will receive the remaining amount of corn seeds. According to the Russian Agricultural Center, more than 84% of the tested seeds are in good condition.

In 2026, the sown area in the region will remain approximately at the level of last year – 1 million 415 thousand hectares. A slight increase (by 0.4 thousand hectares) is expected due to an increase in the area of grain and leguminous crops. They will occupy 786.2 thousand hectares.

345.4 thousand hectares will be allocated for industrial crops, of which 316.5 thousand hectares will be used for spring rapeseed. The volume of sowing of forage crops will also increase: 250.7 thousand hectares are planned. 28.2 thousand hectares will be planted with potatoes, 4.6 thousand hectares with vegetables.

The head of the region emphasized: it is necessary to maintain a balance between grain, feed and industrial crops. This will ensure both food security of the region and the development of exports of products from local producers.

Agricultural producers have already purchased more than 104 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers for the 2026 harvest, and deliveries continue. The readiness of equipment on farms is on average above 92%. There is no shortage of spare parts and consumables. The purchase of fuel and lubricants continues.

More than 7 billion rubles have been allocated for direct support of the agricultural sector, which is comparable to last year’s figures. Of these, 6.5 billion rubles are funds from the regional budget. The governor instructed to provide state support to enterprises without failures.

Mikhail Kotyukov paid special attention to fire safety at the meeting. He set the task for the heads of municipalities to carry out explanatory work with the heads of agricultural enterprises. It is necessary to complete the plowing of the fields and prevent uncontrolled grass burning.

Sowing in the Krasnoyarsk Territory traditionally begins at the end of April. Farmers should begin mass sowing in the first ten days of May.
