Rapid also lost the match with CFR Cluj, score 1-2, in stage #7 of the Superliga play-off. At the end, the scorer of the victory goal, Andrei Cordea, spoke about the tense atmosphere in Giulesti and surprised by the statement in which he said that he wants Rapid to take 4th place.
The guests' victory was brought by the successes of Zahovic and Andrei Cordea, the latter scoring from the penalty.
Andrei Cordea, after Rapid – CFR 1-2: “I thought that if the fans were against them, it would be easy for us”
Scorer from the penalty spot, Andrei Cordea spoke about how the game played out, admitting that his team had two different halves and that the atmosphere in Giulești was not an easy one at all, but one that he likes.
“I said it would be a tough game. We played a good half, but in the second we didn't play what we wanted and I made a mistake too, but it happens, that's it. We came here confident to get the 3 points and we're happy that we managed to win. Maybe even if it's not time to relax, I thought the fans, if they're against them, it would be easy for us, but it wasn't, we had to be more prepared.”
Asked about the reaction of the Rapid fans, who criticized their own team during the match, Cordea had a surprising statement, expressing his desire for Rapid to climb the rankings.
“It's normal, Rapid is a big club, with ambitions, and they wanted to be champions. I think they are very good players individually, they are not players in the position they are in now, but it is the lack of confidence, in my view, not the value. Distrust brought them into this situation. They can still try to get 4th place and I wish for them. It's nice to play in Giulesti.”
Andrei Cordea, moved to FCSB: “I felt good, it's a beautiful stadium”
The former FCSB player also commented on the hostile atmosphere in the stands, but stated that he did not feel any additional pressure.
“I didn't feel that pressure, some people were making a few jokes, but overall not. I felt good, it's a nice stadium and I like that they have stands closer to the pitch than the ones with the track. It's not a serious injury, there were some bumps, because in the play-offs there are tougher matches, I have to dedicate myself more, I help my colleagues in the defense phase as well, and I continue my work and I want to achieve our goal here at CFR.”
Finally, Andrei Cordea spoke about the duel for the podium, referring to the direct rivals.
“what to do We saw that it was an offside goal and Cluj University scored in the last minutes, but we will keep close, there are 3 more matches and I tell you that we want maximum points. The match in Gruia (vs. Craiova University) promises to be incendiary.”
