In Krasnoyarsk, 2 former security officials will serve time for abuse of power in relation to a local resident. This was reported to the regional prosecutor's office.

According to the supervisory agency, in 2018, one of the leaders of the internal security unit of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region became interested in a resident of Krasnoyarsk and ordered to collect materials on him. They didn’t find anything criminal and decided to create a “situation” artificially. In the summer, the man's car was stopped. The accomplices planted a dummy drug in the driver's pocket and staged the arrest. An examination later confirmed that the package did not contain prohibited substances.

After this, law enforcement officers took the Krasnoyarsk resident to the police station. Law enforcement officers made it clear to the man that problems with the police could become permanent if he does not cooperate. The discussion was about regular financial assistance, and the victim agreed out of fear. In the fall, the man received a call via messenger and demanded 300 thousand rubles. The money was transferred to the account of a third party, the details were dictated by the initiator of the scheme.

“During the investigation, one of the defendants, the former head of the unit, partially admitted guilt. He told how, on the instructions of his superiors, he organized a detention with the participation of the Special Rapid Response Team, the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate and drug control in order to make the person “more accommodating” and lead him to the necessary conversation. Other participants denied guilt, citing “operational information” about the man’s involvement in drugs,” the prosecutor’s office said.

The court found it proven that there were no grounds for the detention, the dummy was used deliberately, and forceful methods became a tool of pressure.

In November 2024, the regional prosecutor confirmed charges against his accomplices for exceeding official powers with the use of special means (clause “b”, part 3 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The court agreed with the qualifications and sentenced the ex-policemen, in combination with previous sentences, to imprisonment for a term of 13.5 to 17 years in a maximum security colony with a ban on working in law enforcement agencies for a period of 8.5 to 12 years and 8 months, with a fine of 8.5 to 24 million rubles. and deprivation of the special ranks of “police major” and “police lieutenant colonel.”
