Viktor Orban spoke in Tușnad about the meeting with Ilie Bolojan: “We start from a good position”

The Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, who is at the Summer University of Tușnad, spoke on Friday about his informal meeting with Ilie Bolojan. He emphasized the help he offered to Romania to enter Schengen, writes News.ro.

Orban claims that Hungary made a “fantastic gesture” last year, at which the Romanians expected “the least”, and helped Romania enter Schengen during the time he had the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and this lays the foundations of a good bilateral relationship.

“We start from a good position, considering that last year Hungarian diplomacy made a fantastic gesture, eliminating the physical border between Hungary and Romania. Given the historical history and the relations between the two countries, the Romanians probably expected the least to help them in this regard, but it happened exactly, we were the opposite, we were the one, Orban.

Regarding the meeting with Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, he characterized the head of the government as a “serious man, with clear conceptions”, with which Romania, who says it goes through major economic challenges, has “good” chances to solve them.

First meeting between Bolojan and Orban

The prime minister of Hungary arrived at the Victoria Palace on Wednesday in an informal visit to Bucharest, meeting for the first time with the new prime minister, Ilie Bolojan. The UDMR leader, Kelemen Hunor, also attended the meeting.

“The two officials discussed the relations between Romania and Hungary, emphasizing concrete projects that can bring real benefits to citizens from both countries, regardless of ethnicity. The Romanian prime minister stressed that Romania wants a constructive relationship with Hungary, focused on real cooperation and clear results,” the Government, the Government said.

And this year Viktor Orban participates in the Tusvanyos Summer University, reached the 34th edition. Several members of the Hungarian government, including ministers and state secretaries, but also UDMR representatives in the Government of Romania, such as Deputy Prime Minister Barna or Minister of Culture, take part in the event. Among the participants will be the leader of the UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, MEPs or UDMR MPs, but also mayors and presidents of the county councils on the Union lists.

Representatives of the Hungarians from other countries, such as Ukraine, Slovakia, Slovenia or Croatia, will take part in the works. On Saturday, July 26, the Hungarian Prime Minister will hold his traditional Tusvanyos speech.
