– We are aware, based on our experience, that we must, one way or another, accept pessimistic variants for all our services. So as not to be surprised in any way, Tusk said.

He thanked all services for their involvement.

– There is never enough of this work and mobilization. No one can be left alone. I realize that it is not humanly possible to counteract all the consequences of bad weather, such as snowstorms and black ice, he noted.

He added that no bad event could occur because “we didn't see something.”

– This must be our number one commandment – ​​he emphasized.

He also noted that perhaps the service representatives had other plans for New Year's Eve, “but the state services do not celebrate when such a situation occurs.”

– We are currently dealing with 19 incidents of this type – he said. Interventions are mainly related to broken trees and their branches.

He added that the State Fire Service increased staff numbers on Tuesday and Wednesday in the Warmian-Masurian, Masovian and Pomeranian voivodeships. He informed that 5,262 officers of the State Fire Service were on duty on Wednesday. Volunteer Fire Department units also take part in the activities.

– Our forces, resources and operational reserves are on full alert, we are also monitoring the condition of roads in these critical places – he assured.

Police: 245 collisions and 16 accidents

Since Tuesday, 261 road incidents have been recorded, including 245 collisions and 16 accidents. There are no fatalities, said the Chief of Police, General Marek Boroń, during a meeting of the crisis staff.

On Wednesday afternoon, another meeting of the crisis staff was held at the Chancellery of the Prime Minister, convened by Prime Minister Donald Tusk in connection with the weather situation in the country.

Chief Commander of the Police, General Marek Boroń, said that since Tuesday “261 road incidents have been recorded, including 245 collisions and 16 accidents.” He assured that there were no fatalities.

– Currently in the province in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, the following are blocked: provincial road 544 on two sections Działdowo – Mława, provincial road 544 Lidzbark – Brodnica, provincial road 545 Działdowo – Nidzica, provincial road 604 – Młódki and provincial road 545 – Moczysko. In the Pomeranian Voivodeship, the national road S7 – Glincz, exit to the town of Kościerzyna – he said.

He assured that work is underway to unblock this road.

He informed that on the 117th kilometer of the A4 motorway, counting from Zgorzelec, the road was blocked by about eight cars because a truck stopped there across the motorway. He said that 4,300 policemen are involved in road work. He emphasized that special emphasis was placed on the at-risk voivodeships, i.e. Warmian-Masurian and Masovian. He said that the police also check the technical condition of the vehicles.

He announced that 7,500 policemen, including 2,870 road traffic policemen, were planned for operations on January 1, and 10,500 policemen were prepared for January 2, including 4,150 road traffic policemen. (PAP)
