A large-scale street festival “Theater Boulevard” has started in Moscow. By the end of the summer, seven of the city's iconic boulevards will be transformed into open-air stages where passers-by can watch performances and interact with artists for free.
The organizers divided the sites by genre:
- Tverskoy Boulevard has become the territory of drama – classical and modern plays are shown here.
- Strastnoy Boulevard was given over to music – here opera arias and operettas are heard right on the street.
- Chistoprudny Boulevard was occupied by street theaters, magicians and circus performers on stilts.
- Sretensky Boulevard is dedicated to history – here they teach theatrical makeup and show rare costumes.
- Pokrovsky Boulevard was turned into a lecture hall, where actors conduct free master classes on stage speech for everyone.
The main feature of the project is the absence of a barrier between the stage and the hall. Actors from the country's leading theaters (including Sovremennik, Chekhov Moscow Art Theater and Lenkom) perform directly among passers-by and involve people in their performances.
You can visit all sites for free, no registration required. Performances and master classes will be held every day until the end of summer.
Let us remind you that earlier in the capital they launched a large-scale project “Summer in Moscow”, within the framework of which free sports training, film screenings and master classes in the fresh air were organized in all districts of the city.
