Two tons of lard were sold out in a day at a fair in Krasnoyarsk

During one day of the fair in Serebryany Square, Krasnoyarsk residents bought more than two tons of salted lard.
Let us remind you that “Lard Day” was held in the Oktyabrsky district the day before for the 16th time. 70 local producers took part in it. The fair also featured other farm products and handicrafts.
Visitors could try and buy lard of various types: salted in brine, dry salted, with pine nuts, wild garlic, as well as smoked products. As entrepreneur Roman Karimov said, in the first two hours of trading alone he sold 150 kilograms of products.
More than 1,500 people visited the fair. In addition to lard, townspeople bought meat, mushrooms, berries, honey and homemade pickles. There were food aisles for the guests, creative groups performed, and a competition was held among entrepreneurs for the best presentation of products.
“The secret of the popularity of “Lard Day” is its festive atmosphere and sincerity. Probably, in every Siberian family, people of different generations eat lard; they have their own salting recipes, proven over the years,” noted Boris Pereverzev, head of the Oktyabrsky district administration.
It is planned to hold such fairs more often.
