“Why, Bibi?” Trump blasts Netanyahu over Beirut strike

On June 14, the Israel Defense Forces attacked the command center of Hezbollah militants in Beirut (Lebanon). The IDF reported this on Telegram.

The attack was carried out after Hezbollah shelled air targets in Israel.

According to the Israeli military, the center was used to prepare terrorist attacks against Israeli citizens and IDF troops operating in southern Lebanon.

The last time Israel attacked Beirut was a week ago, CNN recalled. After this, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “We will not allow shelling of our territory or our populated areas and we will act accordingly.”

US President Donald Trump, commenting on the attack on Beirut, called it “very minor and senseless.”

“Today's attack on Beirut should not have happened, especially on such an important day when we are so close to reaching a peace agreement with Iran,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

In comments to Axios, he added that the attack delayed the signing of a preliminary agreement between the United States and Iran by several hours.

He said he was shocked when advisers called him to report the attack and he was angry at Netanyahu.

“It's so terrible – I just couldn't believe it. An hour before we were supposed to sign the agreement,” he said.

Trump said he made it clear to Netanyahu that he “doesn’t have an ounce of common sense.”

“Why, Bibi [Нетаньяху]did you need to stage this damn attack? I was so angry. “I made it clear to him,” the US President added.
