George Simion's first reaction after Nicușor Dan appointed Veștea as prime minister: “It shows that you don't care about parties, constitutional order and democracy”

George Simion reacted on Sunday to the appointment of Adrian Veștea for the position of prime minister, accusing President Nicușor Dan of ignoring the internal procedures of the PNL and proving, through this decision, that “he does not care about political parties, constitutional order and democracy”.
“No Dan ignored the statutory forums of the PNL. You know very well that we were the fiercest opponents of Bolojan, but to do something like that inside a political party shows that you don't care about those political parties, you don't care about the constitutional order and democracy. They are the same people who canceled the elections. History is being written now, as we speak,” said George Simion.
The AUR leader made the statements in a speech given to members of the party's youth organization.
“We believe in supporting democracy, not in canceling it, as they did in December 2024, when canceling the presidential elections and denying the right of Călin Georgescu to be the president of Romania, repeated in March 2025, when they canceled his candidacy, then continued with the defiance of the political parties and the democratic system by nominating Eugen Tomac and this morning, when, without anyone from the PNL proposing him, they appointed Adrian Veștea as prime minister”, Simion also said.

GOLD: “The constitutional solution is the early elections”
The party led by George Simion reacted earlier in a press release, accusing a violation of democratic principles and invoking the formation of “personal regimes, similar to authoritarian or even totalitarian ones”.
AUR conveyed that “democracy based on elections, political parties and the will of the people is suspended starting from December 2024” and emphasized that Romania is going through a period of deep political crisis, in a press release, which George Simion also shared on his Facebook page.
“AUR remains with democracy and the will of the Romanians”, was the message of the AUR leader.
