US President Donald Trump has announced that US Air Forces B-2 bombers have been used in Iran's nuclear sites, CNN reports, which reviews the characteristics of these top aircraft.
B-2 Spirit is the top of the US Air Force. With its wing design in flight, the composition of composite materials and special coatings, “B-2 brings a massive fire power, in a short time, anywhere throughout the globe, penetrating through previously impenetrable defense systems,” it is shown in an informative file of Air Force.
B-2 with four engines can be armed with nuclear or conventional weapons, it is piloted by a crew of two people, it has a useful load of 18 tons and an unlimited range with air refueling.
How many B-2 bombards have the US
The bombers flew for the first time in 1989 and fought 10 years later in the Allied Force operation, the intervention led by NATO in the Kosovo humanitarian crisis, flying non-stop from their Missouri base to hit Serbian targets, according to Air Force.
Subsequently, they flew on even more distant missions to hit aim in Afghanistan, in October 2021, in the first days of the Enduring Freedom operation.
More recently, the B-2 aircraft flew from the American-British common base in Diego Garcia, in the Indian Ocean, to hit Houthi in Yemen.
There are only 20 B-2 aircraft in the US Air Force inventory, all based on the Whiteman Air Forces in Missouri.
Each of the bombers costs about $ 2 billion in dollars.
