The “Bolojenist” from the PSD: the only social democrat who still wants to govern with the current partners

Sorin Grindeanu, the president of the PSD, said on Wednesday, after the regional meeting of the Bucharest-Ilfov organizations, that most of those who expressed their point of view here demanded that the party leave the current governing coalition. The social-democratic leader specified that, in all the six regional meetings organized so far, only one person supported the continuation of the government in the current formula.
Grindeanu explained that the internal discussions followed the same format as in the other regions: the presentation of the political and governmental situation, the evaluation of the PSD ministers' activity and the analysis of possible scenarios before the decisive vote on April 20.
“On the 20th we have the vote and today the organizer was the same as in the other regional meetings. I presented the current situation (…) the image of the government, the self-evaluation against our presence in the Coalition and in the government. After that, I presented the scenarios we can enter with the April 20 voteGrindeanu said.

“Here, almost everyone asked us to go into the opposition”
The PSD president emphasized that in Bucharest-Ilfov the request to join the opposition was almost unanimous
“Maybe here, in Bucharest, until we left the hall, almost everyone who took the floor asked to go into opposition. Almost everyoneher”, explained Grindeanu.
According to the social democrat, the atmosphere in the party branches is similar everywhere in the country:
“A single Romanian expressed in all six regional meetings that it would be good to continue in the same way. We also have our Bolojenist, obviously, Toma de la Buzău. Otherwise, not even one person, at the six regional meetings, said that we should continue in the current form“.

Open scenarios for PSD
The PSD leader stated that the party is considering several options, including a reconfiguration of the coalition or moving into the opposition, but the final decision also depends on the governing partners:
“This does not mean that we will not choose this, but other scenarios are possible: internal reconfiguration of this governing coalition, but that does not depend only on us (…) or the transition to the opposition. Because you can have a majority without PSD”.
