Norilsk Nickel presented non-financial statements for 2025. The Sustainability Report states that the company allocated a third of its annual revenue to this area – more than 377 billion rubles.

The company allocated 7.7 billion rubles for the development of regions, including 4.4 billion rubles for the renovation of Norilsk. More than a thousand families will be able to get new housing; new public spaces, sports and cultural infrastructure will appear in the city. The result of this work can be called the urban environment quality index, which is compiled by the Ministry of Construction of the Russian Federation. Every year it shows an increase in indicators in the territories where Norilsk Nickel operates. In 2023–2024, Norilsk “increased” by 18 points, to 243 out of 360 possible, Monchegorsk – by 19, to 239, Zapolyarny – by 22, to 244.

This is also confirmed by a large-scale analytical study, “Social Portrait of a City Resident,” which has been conducted since 2018 among residents of Norilsk, Monchegorsk, Zapadny and Nikel. Assessments of the general well-being of residents improved by 21%, assessments of the performance of city infrastructure, services and the resource provision system – by 31%.

At Norilsk Nickel, the key values are “Efficiency”, “Safety” and “Care for People”. The average salary in the company in 2025 is almost twice as high as the Russian average – 216.6 thousand rubles. The average number of employees exceeded 76 thousand people. Almost 18 billion rubles were allocated for social programs and benefits over the past year. Support measures include sanatorium treatment, pension and housing programs and much more.

The report also assessed Norilsk Nickel's social package, which is one of the best in the industry. In Norilsk, Dudinka and Monchegorsk there are corporate clinics and health centers, and guild medicine is developing. All company employees are provided with voluntary health insurance policies, and every third employee participates in sports and health programs.

All initiatives resonate with employees. The internal “People Care Index”, which the company launched in 2025, amounted to 67%, and in the first months of 2026 increased by another 4 points.

The most important issue for the company is environmental well-being. Norilsk Nickel has launched the largest initiative in Russia – the Sulfur Program. It made it possible to reduce sulfur dioxide emissions by 39% compared to 2020 levels. In total, Norilsk Nickel allocated more than 89 billion rubles for environmental protection.

In the reporting year, the company updated its Strategy in the field of ecology and climate change, which now includes more than 270 activities with a total indicative budget for 2026–2035 of about 247 billion rubles.

The company's key objective in the field of occupational health and industrial safety remains the complete elimination of fatal accidents. Modern digital technologies help in this.

Sustainability issues are integrated into the supply chain management process. The company motivates partners to follow standards and recommendations in this area, as well as manage related risks.

Every year, Norilsk Nickel takes into account in its reports all leading international and national standards: GRI, SASB, IFRS S2, TCFD, TNFD, recommendations of the Bank of Russia and the Ministry of Economic Development, etc. For the first time, information disclosure is presented in accordance with the Social Capital Business Standard (SOBC).

“What is set out in the report can be called differently: sustainable development, ESG, corporate social responsibility, responsible business conduct. There are many options for names. The main thing is that behind all these numbers there are people. In the reporting year 2025, Norilsk Nickel turned 90 years old. In almost a century, the world has changed beyond recognition. Now we are discussing the digital economy, artificial intelligence, and sometimes fantastic things. But, as before, we are implementing our projects so that people live in a decent and favorable environment, are active and healthy, work with pleasure, see opportunities for development and connect their future and the future of their children with this territory,” commented Evgeny Fedorov, First Vice President – Director of Operations, Head of the Polar Division of Norilsk Nickel.

This year, for the first time, a Regional Atlas was added to the Sustainable Development Report. It contains all Norilsk Nickel’s social and environmental projects and the results of investments in the key regions of the company’s presence. It shows how the sustainable development agenda translates into concrete changes for people: new housing, kindergartens, sports facilities, public spaces, environmental projects and a more comfortable urban environment.
