In the temporarily occupied territory of the Lugansk region, the Russian authorities created a new propaganda structure – “the council for the protection of traditional values, culture and historical memory.” The Center for Combating Disinformation of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) reported this on May 31 on Telegram.
Within the framework of this newly created structure, seven special commissions were formed – their composition included local collaborators, Russian officials and the military, the Center for Action noted.
The absurdity of such an initiative, according to the center, lies in the fact that the occupiers gave the role of “bearers of traditional values” and “moral authorities” to the Russian military, who came to Ukrainian soil with war, destruction, violence and death. And the so-called preservation of historical memory is only the promotion of Kremlin propaganda and the imposition of a “distorted version of the past by Moscow.”
“The creation of such “commissions” indicates that the occupation authorities are moving to more systematic and aggressive methods of influencing the worldview of people in the TOT (temporarily occupied territories). In this way, the Kremlin is trying to force people to be loyal to the occupiers and, through lies and manipulation, to promote hatred of Ukraine,” the message noted.
