More than half of Russians support the idea of a lifetime ban on the sale of cigarettes and nicotine-containing products to those born after December 31, 2008. This is stated in the SuperJob study.

55% of respondents supported such an initiative. 23% were against it, another 22% found it difficult to answer. Non-commercial nicotine products can no longer be sold to minors, but the new initiative suggests that this ban will continue for them after they turn 18. Women support this idea more often than men. Among them, 58% were in favor of the ban; among men, 52%.

Russians who smoke are more reserved about the initiative. Among them, 46% supported a lifetime ban. Among non-smokers, more than 58% are in favor. Opponents of the idea believe that prevention should be done instead of prohibitions. Some also fear the emergence of a black market and note that an adult should decide for himself whether to smoke or not.

The survey was conducted from April 22 to May 12, 2026. It was attended by 1,600 economically active Russians over 18 years of age from all districts of the country.
