“There is now a Trump square in Chernigov. The next step is an appeal to the US President and his family. Let’s invite you to visit the hero city!” – wrote Semenenko.
In the letter, she published an explanatory note with a proposal to rename the Chernigov Square “Fairy Tale” to Trump Square, an appeal initiated by her with a request to consider the issue at a session of the City Council and signatures in support of her proposal (there are 22 of them on the sheet).
The explanatory note calls Trump a famous political figure, “a symbol of strength, confidence and a pragmatic approach to diplomacy,” recalls his peace efforts and expresses the hope that Trump will become a Nobel Peace Prize laureate. They also note that the renaming of the square “is symbolic in nature” and is aimed at attracting the attention of the international community to the need to restore Chernigov after the end of the war in Ukraine.
“We strive for this step to be the beginning of a dialogue with Mr. Trump and his family, opening the opportunity for potential charitable, humanitarian and investment support for Chernigov. The name “Trump Square” will be a sign of gratitude, hope and openness of the hero city of Chernigov to the world,” the note says.
“Suspilne” informed that the decision to rename the “Fairy Tale” park in the Sherstyanka microdistrict was made at the 46th extraordinary session of the Chernihiv City Council.
