Archaeologists shared details of excavations on the territory of the Holy Dormition Monastery in the Krasnoyarsk microdistrict Udachny. Let us remind you that specialists studied about a thousand square meters of the cultural layer and collected more than 5,000 objects.

As the Department of Urban Planning and Architecture of the Krasnoyarsk Administration said, the most ancient finds belong to the final stage of the Upper Paleolithic, that is, their age is approximately 12-14 thousand years. Scientists have discovered sites of mammoth and reindeer hunters, as well as the bones of a young mammoth and fragments of a horse skeleton with traces of butchering.

In addition, among the artifacts was a rare ceramic vessel from the time of the construction of the Egyptian pyramids – the third millennium BC. It belongs to the Afanasyevskaya archaeological culture, is richly decorated with complex geometric patterns and is a great rarity for Krasnoyarsk. The collection also includes fragments of pottery, stone knives, scrapers and arrowheads.

The excavations are being carried out on the initiative of a federal development company based in Krasnoyarsk. She took upon herself the design and construction of a new cell building for the monastery. All found items will subsequently be transferred to the state museum fund.
