On the night of March 29, Ukrainians will experience a clock change. What will change and how to prepare

At 3.00 the clock hands must be moved forward one hour. On modern gadgets this happens automatically.

Why wasn't it cancelled?

It was expected that the transition to winter time in October 2024 in Ukraine will be the last, since in July of the same year the Verkhovna Rada supported in the second reading a law providing for the abolition of the clock change to daylight saving time. On August 21, the law was sent to President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky for signature.

The author of the draft law was the current speaker of the Ukrainian parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk. He filed it in 2020 when he was deputy speaker. Then the document was adopted in the first reading, the voting took place in early March 2021 – a few weeks before the transition to daylight saving time, but in general the law was not voted on and was returned for revision and a second second reading. Stefanchuk returned to the idea of canceling the transfer and remaining to live, according to him, according to the natural winter time for Ukraine, after he became the new chairman of the Rada.

On September 24, 2024, Ukrainian media reported that Zelensky was not going to sign law. One of the arguments against signing were petitions like “don’t steal our evenings”, which were presented by Ukrainians. This question was not raised again.

One hour less sleep

Daylight saving time means that just after 3:00 that night it will be 4:00. To prevent the transition to daylight saving time from affecting your health, start changing your sleep patterns a few days before March 29 – gradually shift your bedtime and wake-up time. You just need to start doing this 20 minutes earlier than usual.

As you prepare for Daylight Saving Time, limit your coffee to the afternoon. This will help you fall asleep faster and better adapt to your new schedule.

Smoothly change the time of dinner, moving it to an earlier time. Avoid heavy meals before bed. Also, in the evening hours it is better to reduce activity, dim the lighting and abandon gadget screens.

Thanks to gradual changes in your daily routine, the process of adapting to summer time will be much easier.
