1 cap of strawberries in May – and a harvest of 5 kg per bush: the berries are twice as large, sweet and juicy

In May, strawberries often look weak after winter. However, just 1 feeding will help the bushes quickly recover and lay the foundation for a good harvest.

Conventional fertilizers don't work in May

When the soil has not yet warmed up, strawberry roots work sluggishly. During this period, traditional mineral complexes are almost not absorbed and simply lie in the ground without use. The plant needs an “awakening impulse,” an experienced gardener reports on the channel “Your Dacha” (18+).

A simple strawberry cocktail recipe

We need liquid potassium humate with microelements. It awakens the soil microflora and helps the roots absorb what is already in the soil. But the effect will be many times stronger if you add one available component.

For a standard 10-liter bucket of lukewarm settled water, take:

  • 1 cap (about 15 ml) of liquid potassium humate;
  • 1 tablespoon of pharmaceutical ammonia (ammonia).

Ammonia gives greenery a quick start and its smell repels overwintered pests – weevils and May beetle larvae.

How to use

Important rule: The solution is applied only to damp soil. If the spring is dry, first water the beds with plain water, wait a couple of hours, and then use fertilizing. For one bush, 0.5 liters at the root is enough, being careful not to flood the center of the rosette. Carry out the procedure only once – in mid-May.

“Then the plant will have enough strength to produce a powerful harvest, and all that remains is to water it on time and enjoy the large, sweet berry. <...> The harvest is 5 kg per bush,” the gardener concluded.
