Most often, patients came from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Foreigners applied in 25 medical areas. The most popular fields were obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology and internal medicine. Almost all cases of treatment took place on an outpatient basis.
The head of the agency, Alexander Ermolaev, noted that the republic attracts patients with qualified personnel and modern equipment. The authorities’ task is to increase the accessibility of local medicine for residents of other countries and expand information about it.
Seven medical organizations in Yakutia are involved in the project. The development of medical tourism is carried out within the framework of the national projects “Long and Active Life” and “Tourism and Hospitality”. According to the tourism development strategy until 2030, the republic intends to receive up to 750 thousand travelers annually, and the share of the tourism industry in the gross regional product is planned to be increased to 5%.
