The documents were registered on April 28 and are currently under review. Both requests are for six classes of products and services, with no associated graphics, according to Profit.

Areas for which trademarks would be protected include printing and stationery, clothing, advertising, marketing, opinion polls, event management, political consulting, political financing, speechwriting, legal services and election campaigns.

According to OSIM procedures, the word mark is a name or slogan written in standard characters, which can be registered with or without graphic elements. To submit the application, a standard form is required, and together with it, the submission fee of 51 lei is paid, to which is added the publication fee of 152 lei for the black-and-white versions or 508 lei for the color versions.

After the registration of the application, it is published within a maximum of seven days, from which point observations or oppositions can be made on legal grounds for two months.

In parallel, within 30 days after the submission, the substantive examination fee of 559 lei for one class in the case of word marks must be paid, each additional class costs 356 lei.

OSIM analyzes the application on its merits in approximately six months from publication, provided that the related fees are paid, and decides to admit or reject it.

To complete the procedure, the registration certificate is issued only after payment of a fee of 254 lei, within 30 days of notification. In the absence of payment, the applicant is considered to have abandoned the mark.

Registered trademarks are valid exclusively on the territory of Romania for 10 years from the date of filing and can be renewed indefinitely, in successive periods of 10 years each.
